Bride Thriller: Hundreds of Brides & Michael Jackson

I’m so excited! I’m going to be heading down to Boston in September to take photos at Bride Thriller.

Brides. Hundreds of Brides. Dancing to Thriller. In the streets of Boston!

Can you think of anything more fun?
Yes. Doing this in Montreal! Perhaps in 2011… :)

Bride Thriller is a fund raising event. All brides participating are asked to bring a donation of a canned or boxed item, which will be given to the Greater Boston Food Bank. If you are interested in being one of the brides (only requirement is a white/off white dress), sign up on the website!

More on this as we get closer to the day. :)

And to make this complete, a picture from a trash the dress session. Not everyone will go this far (chocolate & tomato juice rendered the dress unusable ever again), but “trash the dress” sessions are a fun way to get more wear out of your dress. I’d love to take photos of bride in her dress jumping into a swimming pool! Or at Oka beach. :)

October 23, 2009 · Giving back

The birth of a child is usually a wonderful event. Exhausting, yes, but exhilarating at the same time. Unfortunately, sometimes things go wrong. Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep (NILMDTS) is an international organization that provides free photographic services to families who have to face the death of their newborn.

I really joined this organization because I believe in giving back, and the importance of photographic memories. And last night I was contacted for the first time.

I will be honest and let you know that I am scared. This will not be easy, nor do I want to do anything that would cause additional stress to the parents. But as long as I am respectful and discreet, I will be able to give the parents something to help them remember their child, a child who will always be their child, their angel.

For more information on NILMDTS, please visit the website.

Edited to add: in the end, the family chose not to have photographs taken.
